If it's wood and fits inside our laser, we can engrave it!
Yes, you read that right, if you've got something that's made out of wood (or need us to find you something) and you want it engraved, we can definitely do it! From charcuterie boards, to butcher blocks, BBQ cleaners, canoe paddles, kayak paddles, wine boxes, keychains, clocks, hatchets, axes, coat hangers, picture frames, fraternity/sorority paddles (anyone know where I can get one of those? ...the PADDLE I mean, not the fraternity or sorority), coffee tables and doors.
Not to mention all the wood promotional products we can engrave too! Can't forget the pens, plaques, coasters, bottle openers, and signs, just to name a few!
When dealing with wood products, we honestly have absolutely NO idea what the finished product is going to look like, until we actually run it in the laser. We do however, have a pretty good guess based on experience.
The wood itself plays the main stage with the final outcome. The colour of the wood plays a role, how soft or hard the wood is, how many grains are running through it, how tight the grains are, if there's a mix of wood in the same piece, and if it's been stained, varnished, or painted, all play a key factor in the end result.
THE LIGHTER THE BETTER
Generally speaking, the lighter the wood, the more the engraving “pops”. The darker the wood, the more tone-on-tone you get.
GRAINS PLAY A KEY ROLE
Grains are really hard, and the rest of the wood is softer by comparison. Having grains through the engraving, creates a really unique look with coloring.
NO, WE CAN'T BLACKEN IT
We can always make the engraving darker by running it a 2nd or 3rd time, but we can NEVER make it black. To blacken it, we would have to char the wood to the point where it catches on fire, and that’s not a good thing!
